Healing Journey December 2004
December 12 • It’s All Good ~
Somehow I thought that during this time of healing, I would slow down and I would have time for things. But as it has been, I have been going non-stop–and as I said at my concert, “I am healing throught energy, not rest.” Thus it has taken this long to get back to this journal. So much has happened since the last entry, I will give some hightlights.
First and foremost, the results of the mammogram and mri, were just as we anticipated–ALL GOOD. No evidence of any “bad” cells. So it is just coming clear to me that “I am healed.” I have so much energy and vitality, the likes of which I have not felt as long as I can remember. The rest of the journey is about preventing reoccurance. In January, I will have surgery to get the clean margins and following that will be radiation for about 5 weeks or so. The oncologist has prescribed arimidix which I believe is an estrogen inhibitor. I will take it to keep things stable until surgery and then for some years to follow as is the protocol.
Hawaii is on the horizon. I am in the midst of tying up loose ends and packing. The reality of it is waiting to hit me as I board the airplane on Tuesday, Dec. 14th. What an incredible opportunity–such a blessing! I feel fortunate to have this time for my body to keep getting stronger before the next phase. My friend Lehua will pick me up from the airport in Kona and we will go to her house near Hilo. On Winter Solstice, we will travel back to the Kona side to meet up with more Garberville friends and celebrate the holidays together. After that, who knows, open to the winds of Spirit, I will travel through paradise.
On Thursday, I returned from a visit to Garberville. The time was filled with good visits with friends and family, some work and some very COLD weather. It was the first time I was able to return and soak in the beauty since I left in July. Magic continues to happen. I spoke to my neighbor about the yurt on her land and found out it is vacant and will be available to me when I return in April. Great news!–check that one off the list.
And now for the “experience of a lifetime” story. After being so high from the concert, I wondered what could top that. The Saturday after Thanksgiving, I went with Elvia and Karl to the city to see Michael Franti and Spearhead at the Filmore. I spent the evening in one of my favorite places, right up in front of the stage on the left.
Now, let me back up for a moment. Last year I wrote a song, “Count Our Blessings,” and from the beginning I was telling people this is my Michael Franti song–that someday I would pass him a copy to check out. Many people have joined me in this vision. This is just to point out that I have felt energetically connected to Michael.
Back to the Filmore. I was watching Michael dance and thinking how much fun it would be to dance with him as he has such a groove. Little over half way through the show, he reached his hands down into the crowd as he does to shake hands with people. As I wanted to be a recipient, I reached my hands up. Before I knew what was happening, he pulled me up on the stage. I looked at him and said, “good, this is just where I want to be, on stage with you.” We then proceeded to have an incredible dance together–Michael Franti and the bald woman in the red dress. All those years of doing contact improv… afterwards people asked me if it was choreographed. It was such a fun evening and at the end of the show we were able to buy a 3 CD set of the show. I give thanks for having had such an amazing experience.
Next time you hear from me, it will be from Hawaii. Depending on getting “hooked up” over there–I will keep you posted. As always, I extend my gratitude to all of you for your prayers, love and generosity for my healing process.
Love, Copperwoman
